Anyone here ever cringe when Richard Burton says this in the film?

I used to cringe, but now I laugh. A friend of mine used to joke about that line, and imitate Burton's delivery, and it became a running joke between us. It's been said that when they worked on CLEOPATRA Elizabeth Taylor taught the stage-trained Burton to takeit down a notch for movies. Good work, Liz.

Yes, it always worked for me ... he's having frequent nightmares by night and obsessive memories by day and irrationally wants some kind of affirmation of the events from people who were not, and cannot have been present. He's descending into madness and he, Diana, and the audience know it.
