Remembered from long ago
I saw on Amazon Prime streaming service that this movie was available. Surprising for such an obscure movie, but I decided to watch it, because I had seen it many years ago as a teenager in the late fifties and remembered enjoying it. How tastes change. Now I saw how wooden Cooper's acting was, but that's true of a lot of his movies, this one especially. At times, he seemed to be reading some of his dialog straight from cue cards. Certainly not one of his best efforts.
He was an outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting, and was a pal of Ernest Hemingway, but he was never a great actor. I suppose it was his rugged presence on the screen that attracted people to him. Now I wonder if he was ever that interested in acting, other than for the money.
