Disappointing

Peter Pan and Tinkerbell are completely unlikable, Wendy is an alright character but John and Michael aren't interesting in the slightest, and neither are any of the Lost Boys. Hook and his pirate crew are rather pathetic as villains and never come across as if they pose any legitimate threat (barring the scene where Hook is able to persuade Tinkerbell to assist his scheme which shows he has at least a bit of cunning, and the subsequent "promise" kept).

None of the songs included are particularly good, or memorable. I think a large part of the reason this movie has an enduring reputation is because of the Disney branding and it's banner as a part of the Disney Vault Classics. Then again, it's a kids movie and maybe I had to see it as such but it's disappointing when other Disney classics hold up for adult viewers, as well as children.

Peter and Tinkerbell are unlikable? I don't think so. Peter's one of the most interesting Disney characters. He never wants to grow up (and he can fly)! How cool is that? John and Michael are just secondary, but I think Wendy is a fun character. Hook and his pirate crew ARE pathetic as villains, but that is the point--a bit comedic, ya'know? It shows that as much as Hook tries to get Peter, he can always outsmart him.

"Second Star to the Right" is pretty memorable. To me at least.

It's got a good reptuation because it is a classic Disney movie, yes. It is a part of so many people's childhoods and so there's a nostalgic value there. But it also has a good message, for kids and adults. I believe that message is to dream as if you would never be forced to grow up. It's great for people who are creative and have vivid imaginations because it's such a surreal movie. One of the best things about watching Disney movies as an adult is that you get remember what it was like to be a kid, kind of see how a child's mind works. I don't think it's the best Disney movie out there, but I certainly don't see it as disappointing.
