Why wasn't Wendy a 'Princess of Heart' in KH

For fans of the Kingdom Hearts series, I'm not sure I understand why Wendy wasn't one of the "Princesses" other than to make room for Kiari - I would have thought her to be more "pure" than Alice, if only because she displays more raw courage in being willing to walk the plank for the sake of her principles.

Thoughts?

because she wasnt a princess. before i responded to your post, i rewatched the ending of alice in wonderland, and you can see her walking off towards a very large castle looking building, so we could assume she might be a princess like the rest of them

I feel like Nomura picks princesses based on convenience.

Here's a list of females, and my guess as to why he didn't include them as princesses:
Mulan: The thing about the princesses of heart is that they needed to be captured, like "damsel in distresses"- the unique thing about Mulan is that she actually knows how to fight. It would probably be difficult for the villains to capture her. Plus, how are you going to include her in KH1... she's in the army, would she kept captured halfway through her story?
Pocahontas: a rather controversial character, and tbh I don't think her movie would make that interesting of a world (so I understand why he kept her out of KH1). Plus, who is Sora going to sides with? The Natives, or the white settlers? And cosidering that "light vs. darkness" is an element in KH, which side is going to be "light" and "dark?" Is Ratcliffe going to turn into a heartless? Its a very awkward situation imo.
Rapunzel, Ariel, Tiana, Elsa, Anna: obviously weren't created yet
Ariel: she's a mermaid, and the active one in her story... I'm sure Nomura would've had to have written the story in a weird way for her to have gotten kidnapped midway through her story, and then put in a catatonic state? Would she human or mermaid when the villains capture her? I feel like Nomura didn't make her a PoH out of convenience.
Alice: I felt like she was the substitute for Ariel.. we're supposed to think one of the princesses will be Ariel, but ~twist!~ its Alice. Plus she speaks her mind (I guess) and has a "strong sense of judgement" (I read that in one of her KH descriptions), maybe that's why she's a PoH.
Wendy: they probably just hinted her as being a POH for another ~twist~. We'd assume it's Wendy (based on her similarities to Alice) and ooh.. nope! It's Alice. And again, I'm thinking he left her out for his convenience. Alice is the more popular character, and really.. idk.

If anything, I think Esmeralda should've been a PoH. ha.

Great points, especially regarding Pocahontas (but tbh I get this kick out of imagining Ratcliffe turning into a Heartless)... although Ariel had already been created, but what surprised me was that she showed herself to be almost as baller as Mulan, as the only other female fighting party in the first game.

She actually destroys the Heartless by THROWING herself at them, lol. That's just BA. So I'm guessing they couldn't conceivably see themselves having Ariel captured (although I imagine human Ariel would be quite easy to capture, especially considering how Eric just stood there the first time and watched Ursula take Ariel, lol)

Esmeralda would probably have been even harder to catch than Mulan if you recall the chase scene at the festival, lol.

I liked the "twist" factor they incorporated into it, especially if I had to guess between Wendy and Alice, because I would have guessed that it would be Wendy for the reasons stated in the OP.
