I don't know if its entirely far fetched of a myth, and that logic depends on whether or not the film was completed within a year's time. Because GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES was released in 1953, the same year as PETER PAN, and so its possible that Marc Davis may have seen it, depending on its release date, and some of Marilyn may have trickled into the character. Not only does Marilyn get stuck in a porthole, but she sizes up her hips in a similar manner to Tink when she's looking in the mirror, before she tries to climb through the hole. Its hard to explain until you see it - I had thought the Marilyn connection was a myth, too, until I saw GENTLEMEN. Now, I think the connection is conceivable. Not a sure thing - but at least "conceivable."
