Captain Hook resembling Wendy's father (and played by same character)

I never noticed when I was little, but now that my son watches it, I have noticed that Captain Hook and Wendy's Father are played by the same actor. I also noticed they look similar too. Was this done on purpose? Is this suppose to resemble something like Wendy's resentment of her father and growing up? I also noticed they did the same thing on the 2003 version.

The voices are exactly the same. He doesn't even try to be different.

It is a tradition from the original play to have the same actor play both characters. That is why they did that. The same actor would have also been the model for the animation of both characters which would make them look similar.

oringally JM Barrie wanted Mrs.Darling actor to play Hook.

It makes sense since the father is the "villain" of the real world so it would make sense to have Hook resemble him in Neverland.

Dragonzord! Mastodon! Pterodactyl! Triceratops! Saber Toothed Tiger! Tyrannosaurus!

Exactly, also the same idea was used in Jumanji.
