Typical H'wood- Husbands are idiots!

Apparently, the cariacature of the cuckolded husband is a staple of H'wood "romance", and has a long sordid history! So much so, that they go to unrealistic levels to portray him as utterly clueless! I kept waiting for this character to show some spine-& as usual, this NEVER happens. It would mess up the story! So, again we watch as the Gable character shows some admirable qualities- adulterer as saint! And, also as usual, the wife is NOT forced to deal w/ her behaviour- nor account for any consequences! She's the poor cheater, simply overtaken by circumstances, & forced to endure a husband who's not only clueless, but obviously " doesn't understand her"! I keep waiting for the movie that addresses adultery from the husband's point of view- & where that character doesn't practise "instant forgiveness" towards their spouse. There are plenty of films where a betrayed wife stands up for herself, & boots the cheating husband. She's then seen as courageous! Why is the opposite so rare?
