Did anybody else think of the AIDs epidemic when...
...Gable tried to warn Gardner about feeding the chimpanzee? This was early in the film, when Gardner's character was wandering about the compound, toying with the various animals in cages, and trying to feed them. She tried to feed some of her bubble gum to a chimpanzee. He warned her that a chimp would bite her finger off just for fun, and added, "His teeth are poison. Once they sink into you, you'll blow up like a… well, like an eggplant."
Well, obviously he wasn't talking about an AIDs-like sickness, but it still was pretty eye-opening to hear him warning the woman about the dangers of disease or sickness being transmitted via a chimpanzee bite... Apparently the AIDs virus was originally spread to humans by their coming into contact with infected chimps in Africa. I just read something somewhere that the virus in its earliest form might have had its origin as far back as the early 1900's, but hadn't mutated enough or caused enough damage for doctors to even be aware of its existence. That wouldn't come until decades later.
