region 1 dvd release from criterion

Let's all e-mail criterion for the release of this movie. their collection will not be complete without this one.however,i think they already know this one but for some reason or another, it has not yet been released. rights to the dvd of this film? maybe, but bombarding them with e mails will make them relent and tell us why they haven't given us the privilege of seeing this in a digitally remastered print. ive been scouring the net, and it seems that there is no dvd version of this film even in other regions. dvd collector and lawyer from the philippines,....too lazy to correct the caps

I'm definitely eager to see Madame de (a.k.a. The Earrings of Madame de) on American DVD, too. If Criterion is coming out with new DVDs of Jules Dassin's best Hollywood films (they already put out Thieves' Highway, and in the next couple of months they'll give us both The Naked City and Brute Force), then surely they can give US fans of the director a DVD set which includes La Ronde, Le Plaisir, and Madame de. The only movie I've seen in its entirety is Letter from an Unknown Woman. Truly amazing!

I had the pleasure of seeing this film on 16mm back in film school. Truly a fantastic achievement in cinema. If Andrew Sarris thinks it's the best movie ever made, is a Region 1 DVD release too much to ask?
Ophuls is underrepresented on Home Video and it's time his work is made known to another generation.

There is a very fine UK release of this, as well as "Le Plaisir", "Letter from an Unknown Woman" and "The Reckless Moment". You don't need Criterion. Surely you are not still enslaved by regional encoding?
