Yes they were a couple. and then later on her and Mark Antony were a couple but you probably already knew that.

Also, by this point in Julius' life, they were no longer lovers. They were lovers during Caesar's conquest of Egypt.
shareHistorical records show that Cleopatra returned to Rome with Caesar after she bore his son, Caesarion. She did not leave Rome until after his death. As cited by an earlier post, the Bard's version was more about Brutus. But it is indeed odd that she was completely omitted from the play. After all, it was his reckless affair with her (and arrogance that he might become an emperor) that led to his death.
