Brando was epic as Antony

I would have liked to see Brando tackle other Shakespearean material. His Antony was fiery, passionate, intelligent, charismatic. His delivery of the famous line about the Dogs of War was a highlight of the film imo. Plus he got to end the movie, which was a fitting way to do it.

Yeah and his character don't even have that much screentime, he only kinda get into story after +- 50 minutes of it.

i agree. he should have played Hamlet and/or king lear. it would have been amazing to see.

Oh, yes, definitely. That guy could get the entire audience to riot. He's fierce. As someone else said King Lear would've been a great role for him when he was a little older, say around The Godfather. I wonder why he wasn't approached more? Or perhaps he simply turned down a lot of projects for those he favoured.

reply

Probably had to do with the fact that he was a complete pain in the ass to work with.

He also demanded a lot of money, but he was worth it this film is a prime example.

His Antony was also a manipulator. After the speech and his face was turned away from the crowd, there was a slight smile on his face. His speech wasn't heartfelt, it was calculated.
