I just found out about this remake today. I am a Vincent Price fan, and I adore House Of Wax. I haven't seen previews to this remake, but in my opinion ....any movie with Paris Hilton (yuck) is not worth watching. HaHa! Originals are always best.

From what I've seen about the remake, they've taken the title and the bare concept of the original - looks like this one's going to be aimed at the teen horror market.

They're both excellent movies...granted, they're both WAY before my time, lol (I'm only 23) the "House of Wax" is older than my dad, lol. I saw "House of Wax" for the first time on one of those cable channels that play old classics, and I loved it. Not really big on the older movies, but this one I dunno why, but I was hooked right off the bat. Vincent Price IS the King of Horror, and I will not be seeing the newest remake come May 6th. Mystery of the Wax Museum was damned good to. I had to buy the DVD in an auction on eBay, cuz I couldn't find it in stores, Blockbuster and Hollywood Video didn't even have it to rent...best bet is to get it from eBay, it only cost like $15 total (with shipping).

In her first movie, she was awful! OMG! Half the movie was her admiring her breasts in the mirror, trying to make them look bigger. And she has no ass. It's disgusting. She is disgusting. And might I say, annoying. Could she be more whiny throughout that film?
With all that money, you would think that she would have gotten breast and butt implants... and a lot of facial cosmetic surgery. I cant believe people think she is hot. Anybody wearing a pound of make up applied by make-up "artists" can look decent. That's why it is an art. Take J.lo for example... she is so gross without make-up.. OH and poor Oprah... without make-up.. she is a train wreck.
Even if Paris just "plays a bitch" on the Simple Life, I have seen enough interviews with her to know she aint far from it. If I could murder one celeb scott free.. I would kill Paris Hilton. Nobody else comes close. Just watching people praise her for being a rich brat makes me sick. Now she is actually working... of course she gets to do anything she wants, no effort made.
"i am going to be a singer" "I'm going to star in a movie" "I am a porn star".... whatever she wants to do.. she does it.. that is not real working. She is just doing it so that people wont be able to call her a lazy good for nothing socialite.

The movie is perfect and they should've just left it alone. Vincent Price is dead and he was a large part of what made the movie so great and memorable.
Paris Hilton is just a joke.

shareI haven't seen any of the movies, although I'd like to see the original(s) some time. Teen horror is not my thing, and the preview makes the killer, or whatever he is, look like Leatherface or Michael Myers. I'd much prefer the kind of madman theme that I understand to be behind the Vincent Price movie. Still, it may beat just remaking Japanese horror.
I'm more or a suspense person myself, and if a movie can offer genuine chills, and not just the shock of "Omigod, they just snatched so-and-so," thenI know it's fairly quality stuff.

shareI saw it last night, and I have yet to see the original, but having read the summary, the only thing the two movies have in common are the title, and the idea of bodies being covered in wax, but in the remake, the wax-worker doesn't seem to care whether his subjects are d.o.a...But, yeah..If you want to go see another crap remake that has nothing to do with the original, go check out the new House of Wax..You will jump, cry (from disappointment), and laugh your ass of at the predictable piece of crap that is the 2005 version of this movie, or you could spare yourself the regret of spending the money to watch it and d/l it or rent it with a friend in a few months, because, it is so not worth going to see in theaters..

I have not seen this House of Wax. I loved Vincent Price but have a hard time watching older horror films because the special effects are usually so bad. I end up laughing more then being scared.
there isn't as much to laugh at in the film...the burn make-up was quite good...not the best but very good for the day...and there wasn't really much to poke fun at other then how much they tried to show of that the film was in 3D....aside from that the film has alot to offer even by todays standards and has some rather well directed scenes
