Phyllis Kirk's Scream

Did anybody else think that she had an excellent scream in this movie. I think hers is very unique and at times very powerful. What do you think?

It's an amazing, bloodcurdling scream but I've recently wondered if is actually Phyllis Kirk. Her scream sounded more ordinary in the one episode of The Thin Man that I've seen and sometimes studios would dub in vocal sounds from their library. For example, when Maureen O'Hara screams in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, we are actually hearing Fay Wray from six years earlier in King Kong.

The scream is used again in "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms" when a women screams after witnessing a cop get eaten by the monster.

I had not thought of her scream being dubbed, but I must admit at moments it does look like it is. Especially during the scene when the killer comes into her room at night.

I just watched the movie on TCM and yes, the scream in her bedroom looked like it was dubbed. The movements of her mouth weren't in sync with what we heard. And the voice and background ambience sounded different from the room ambience.

"Klaatu barada nikto"
