The location filming was a huge plus

I love the way this movie, nearly 60 years old, looks eerily fresh and "newly minted" thanks in large part to the color photography and the location settings which apparently were actually filmed in Fiji. Sure, the story is a bit dated and there are a few lines of dialogue that are so politically incorrect that they would never pass muster in today's hyper-sensitive world, but still, this movie is a visual joy. I was glad to see it and immerse myself in the South Pacific.

Ditto;

lovely exotic settings and a certain innocence\naivete in all the proceedings ~

I agree. By the way, the film was shot in Fiji, Melanesia, but is set in Micronesia, which is a a totally different part of the vast Pacific Ocean. This would almost be like filming a movie in, say, Georgia or Virginia, and setting it in Colombia or Brazil. Well, it's the American continent, ain't it?
