When Karen's talking about waste, what's on the wall?

They're in the kitchen, there's this thing on the wall. It's rectangular, with rounded ends, and it has a little eagle on top. It looks like it could be a fire extinguisher, but no way a fire extinguisher has an eagle, and no way they had one in Army base housing in 1941.

Anyone got any idea what it is?

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

That is definitely a fire extinguisher and no, the thing on top is not an eagle.
It is a cylindrical fire extinguisher with a handle and you pump it like a bicycle pump to spray water on whatever is on fire.
You can see it in use by Dr. Watson (Nigel Bruce) in the last of the Sherlock Holmes movies with Basil Rathbone - that is Dressed to Kill (1946)
