The Hairdos of the Women Are Not the Right Ones For 1941

Perhaps I should be a hairdresser, because I keep noticing how movies like THE YOUNG LIONS and THE BLUE MAX keep showing their women with anachronistic hairdos. The hairdo of Deborah Kerr in this movie, for example, is totally out of place for an story set in 1941.
Why do film makers keep repeating this mistake? I'll bet that, if a new version of FROM HERE TO ETERNITY was filmed today, the women would all be depicted wearing hairdos from 2015.

IM not really an expert on hairstyles, so Deborah Kerr's hair didnt bother me. I found some pictures online of some 1941 hairstyles, and her's didn't seem that far removed.

What's funny about the last part of ur comment is that this movie was sort of "remade" with Michael Bay's Pearl Harbor, and Kate Beckinsale's hairdo is so obviously inaccurate to the time period. Even I was distracted by it, and I don't tend to notice those things.

It was very rare to get period accurate hairstyles in movies back then. You'd see plenty of supposed period pieces where the women especially would have the latest fashions of the time the film was made. Back then they were more concerned with their female stars looking fashionable than they are today actually.
