Didn't Like It
You know how a classic movie gets so much attention that you want to see it? I had never seen From Here to Eternity until recently and I was quite disappointed in it. This movie is EXTREMELY overrated.

shareWhat is it you didn't like? The story lines, the acting, the setting? Or did the flawed characters turn you off?
Norman Vincent Peale: "Stay Alive All Your Life".
You must be around 15 years old - or decidedly immature...
shareI just finished watching it. Didn't care for it much, was overrated. Some acting performances were very good.
I am a movie buff, enjoy many classics and newer films as well.
I serve a risen Saviour! John 3:16
Semi-watching it now - keep changing to else - wondering why I care about any of these characters: all are tedious, average. Doubtless the book is much better.
Seems terribly dated.
I too enjoy movies made LONG before I was born. I vaguely recall as a young child wondering how TV could pay for these movies -- not at all getting the whole business construct. Maybe I was ? 8-10 when I figured out people USED to go to that movie in a theater - 20-30-xx years before, etc.
House: I have been on a date before.
Wilson: Not since disco died.
That comment alone is quite immature. So he doesnt like it. Big deal.
shareOf course, no one's required to like any particular movie; however, when they show up with the "it's extremely overrated" statement, but offer no argument as to how they arrived at that conclusion, they're asking to get slammed.
shareI was about fifteen when I read the book which was much more realistic than the film.
shareWhy won't you read the book?
suzycreamcheese RIP Heath Ledger 1979-2008
Because of when the film was made it was heavily censored.
James Jones based the book on his time in the army during World War II and the US Army was upset about the factual depiction of soldiers as hard living, hard drinking, profane men
whose main activity was gambling and looking for sex.
