Who could you see in a remake?

I can tell who I could've seen years ago. Not today though. Back in the good old days and in the 80's/90's.

Warden (Dennis Quaid, maybe Michael Douglas, Stallone, Patrick Swayze)

Prewitt (Elvis Presley, Sylvester Stallone, Michael Douglas, Tom Cruise since I think he and Clift look alike.)

Maggio (Joe Pantoliano who played him in the mini-series. He was a great choice.)

Fatso (Robert DeNiro, James Gandolfini)

Captain Holmes (Jack Nicholson, Robert Duvall, Ben Gazzara)

Karen Holmes (Nicole Kidman, Sharon Stone, Rene Russo)

Sam Elliot as one of the soldiers. Maybe in Jack Warden's part.

The only one I'm endecided on is Lorene. All the actors I picked are in no particular order and for different reasons. I feel they all bring something different to the roles.

First of all I am against Hollywood remaking classics such as this or making prequles /sequels to classic films. Think OZ The Great & Powerful.
Aside from that you have made this post on Aug 1 2013 about a remake & you have listed many actors who are in fact DEAD & cannot even be in a remake if it were to be done. Swayze, Elvis, Ganolfini, Gazzara. All of them have passed away, in Elvis' case for 36 YEARS!!! Why on Earth would you ask people to list a possible remake with actors who could not possibly be in it? It just makes No sense...at all.

It was remade in 1979. WIlliam Devane and Natalie WOod.

Devane also appeared in a short-lived FHTE series on NBC in the 1980-81 season. He again played Warden with Barbara Hershey as Karen and Kim Basinger as Lorene! I recall watching two or three episodes.

And remade as ?? Pearl - whatever - with Afleck - it still sucked.

Tora tora tora is oddly the best pearl harbor movie. Exhausting as it is... what - like 3 hours?

More a documentary than a true "movie" maybe that works best with an historical event - with a *beep* of moving parts.
