DVD 8/26/08
ESCAPE FROM FORT BRAVO will be released on DVD by Warner Home Video on August 26, 2008. Long overdue.

A good print, too, in a widescreen format that may or may not have been its original aspect ratio. But it has that odd lapse at the end, which I mention in another thread here: instead of noting the full title at the end (as MGM began doing in 1951), it reads only Fort Bravo -- no "Escape From", though that's the title shown at the beginning. The theatrical trailer on the DVD keeps referring to the film as just "Fort Bravo", so maybe that was the intended title, with "Escape From" tacked on just before release. But the non-widescreen version (on the VHS and all previous TV prints) did give the full title at the end. Whatever...good movie.
shareEh, okay western nothing special. The print was decent and the cinematography was very good- the best part of the film to me. Stunning location shots of Death Valley and environs. For the most part the print was good especially whenever the grand landscapes were highlighted. Some real nice compositions too. But there were instances of age, grain and other artifacts with the print that was used. Definitely not a restoration but then again not a classic film either.
