Allyn McLerie as Katie Brown

Sure it's Doris Day's film , but Allyn McLerie's portrayal of maid, Katie Brown, sparkles with perky charisma. McLerie has a fine singing voice and is an absolutely superb dancer [ check out those legs in her saloon bar performances!]She proves a more than competent screen foil for Doris Day during their shared musical set-pieces.
McLerie is also very, very cute - her curvaceous figure proudly highlighted by the gorgeous outfits which adorn her during the film. Check out her appearance in the saloon girl outfit early on in the film when she initially meets Calamity. Or her very first scene with self-obseesed Adelaide Adams - a dough- eyed beauty, looking absolutely charming in her maid's outfit - her flirty charm accentuated by the very saucy huge bow securing her apron.
A much underrated and glamorous female screen presence!

I'm a big fan of her and wonder why she didn't become a star. This is her best showcase by far, but she also does fine dramatic work in CINDERELLA LIBERTY and, especially, THEY SHOOT HORSES, DON'T THEY?

No one has mentioned one of Allyn's best roles: Amy in "Where's Charley?", the object of the very cute and lovely song "Once in Love with Amy", performed by star Ray Bolger.
