Calamity trumps Annie
Delightful movie, great songs, "Deadwood Stage, Doris' "Secret Love" hit a standout. An absolute gem is Day & McLerie's cabin duet - just brilliant!

shareannie get your gun is nearly a better movie
shareI enjoy "Calamity Jane" more than "Annie Get Your Gun" for one simple reason: a more appealing lead actress. I know that many wouldn't agree with my assessment, but I've always found Betty Hutton to be unbearably over-the-top in the role of Annie Oakley. Everything about her portrayal of the character is too broad; her singing, her acting---it's all painful for me to watch. While Doris wasn't exactly understated as Calamity, I just find her more likable.
