My thoughts (spoilers herein)
I didn't know what this would be about when I started watching, and for the first 10-15 minutes I had no idea it would be a crime-drama from the perspective of the falsely accused. It did make it seem like the justice system for woman experiencing sexual assault must have been less understanding than today. Raymond Burr played the role of manipulative womanizer pretty well, and his character was actually surprising for this time period. Inferred in the story is that one of his mistresses is pregnant, but he effectively ignores what she is going through. In fact, he tries to lure in another conquest in Norah Larkin, and he almost succeeds, at least until he turns up dead the next day. The mystery that follows is one that is somewhat compelling as she tries to figure out what to do. Much of the middle part of the film is occupied by her attempts to elude capture while making contact with Casey Mayo as her only hope. Just when it seems like he's turned on her, he finds a way to figure out who the real murderer is, thereby saving Norah. Overall, I enjoyed this film. I was surprised it went into themes of sexual assault (as well as dating post-divorce), but I thought that it was well done and compelling overall.
