Is the picture of Norah's (ex)boyfriend Ralph Meeker?

When Norah (Anne Baxter) opens the "dear john" letter at her lonely birthday dinner, is the man in the picture Ralph Meeker?

I don't think so. He was probably just a model.

I wanted to add that when a woman gets a letter like that, it's a "Dear Jane" letter.

According to the cast list, he is:
William Phipps ... Lt. George Foster (voice) (uncredited)

The voice is William Phipps. That doesn't mean the picture is. And it doesn't look at all like William Phipps.

He looks like Tab Hunter.

And to me it looked more like a painting than a photo.

Hey folks,

It seemed to look like Tab Hunter to me, also, but I would not want to bet the farm on it. It certainly did not look like Ralph Meeker to me.

It's definitely not Ralph Meeker. Had it been Tab Hunter, it would have been noted in the trivia section.
