What 's a 'B' Girl?

Is that an abbreviation for "BARFLY", or is there another
connotation that I'm not aware of?

Anybody out there with the answer?

Thanks much!

wwii slang: B-girl is a "bar girl", caters to GIs with more cash than sense.
Hangs out in bars to pick up guys. Self-employed, no pimp.
No other means of support.

It's a bargirl, as the others said; but until I knew that, I always took that line to mean that she plays second fiddle to Duncan's wife (like a 'B' actor), who she clearly resents. Works both ways, I guess.
