Common Links - Spoilers

I noticed a few common links in the movie that tied characters together. I assume it was intentional

1. Daughters - both Bannion and Lagana have a single child, a daughter, that they're close to.

2. Heiress - both Bannion's wife and Debby make reference to being an heiress. Mrs. Bannion uses it to justify affording steaks on a policeman's salary and Debby uses it to justify being with Vince. Mrs Bannion is a good person; Debby starts of bad but redeems herself.

3. Mink - Debby tells Mrs. Duncan they're 'sisters under the mink'. Debby talks Bannion out of killing her, saying he'd be no different than Vince and the others but she's able to kill her because they're both technically 'innocent' but have benefited a great deal from the criminal lifestyle and its proceeds.

4. Injury - Bannion checks on the well-being of the woman whose hand Vince burns at the club. He shows special regard for the afflicted. Two injured women do him a good turn when they really didn't have to. First Miss Parker, the lady with the limp at the junkyard, gives him key information even though she says she's frightened. Later she knocks on Larry's door to set up the Bannion's confrontation with him.

Debby, does pretty much the same. Before she's injured she's not very forthcoming with information but after her face is burned she not only has plenty to say, she kills Mrs Duncan on Bannion's behalf.

5. Unclean hands - While Bannion carries a gun, he uses his hands to choke out both Larry and Mrs. Duncan. He stops just short of killing them. That honor is left to their own kind. In Larry's case it's intentional; he lets his ‘friends’ take care of him. In Mrs Duncan’s case it’s unintentional. He tells Debby he almost killed her and wish he had. She actually does it. Bannion is obviously a 'good' guy but he comes close to crossing the line himself.
