Three Stars in the Trailer (Who Don't Appear in the Film)

The "coming attractions" trailer for "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms" opens on dissolves to three actors, one after the other, each saying something about the menace to come.

imdb trivia lists two of them right now, but not the third. I'll add him now:

The three (who were likely Warner Brothers contact players, all three appeared in Warners films) were:

Vera Miles (The Searchers, The Wrong Man for Warners)

Paul Picerni (House of Wax for Warners)

AND...

(not listed on imdb)

Merv Griffin (Phantom of the Rue Morgue for Warners.)

Miles, Picerni, and Griffin do not appear in "The Beast..."

That scene was deleted from the movie.

"Who knows what waits for us in natures "No man's land."

reply

Hey, that's Vera's line!

This was a scene in the movie? In the trailer, it just seems like three people reading lines to us. I am confused.

reply

I have that scene on one of those "horror movie ads" compilation tapes, and I've watched it numerous times, but I NEVER recognized Merv! Will wonders never cease? Steve V.

reply

Well, their scenes had to be cut to make room for the really BIG stars like Kenner G. Kemp and Franklyn Farum.

reply

actually Merv IS in the film (but unseen) as the radio announcer voice doing the sea monster story in Nesbitt's hospital room.
