Death of the Rhed

Everyone enjoyed seeing Lee Van Cleef as the sharpshooter and as always he did a commendable job. A few observations:

A real sharpshooter would have brought his own rifle with which he was familiar with and which was properly calibrated to allow precise shot placement rather than a gun handed to him.

Looked like the gun was an M1 carbine which I would think would be a litle underpowered for the job - a M1 Garand would seem more likely to have been the weapon of choice.

The actual firing of the shot was very authentic looking unlike the fake shooting you see so often - the sound, speed of the projectile, and recoil was all just as it actually would be. Wonder if it actually was LVC in that suit taking the shot?

One final detail - that's great they destroyed the beast so it couldn't spread its "virulent disease" all over - they only ended up with a 500 ton carcass infused with a radioactive isotope with likely a half life of several thousand (or millions) of years!

I wonder how they cleaned that up?

According to recent headlines, the NYC officials apparently recycled the carcass into dog food. Steve V.

What headlines?

Lots of dogs and cats have died from tainted canned food recently. Maybe it was made from radioactive dinosaur?

Okay, a weak joke. Steve V.
