I always get a kick out of the scene where Professor Thurgood Elson(played by the terrific Cecil Kellaway)is talking on the phone to Col.Jack Evans(Kenneth Tobey).Elson asks the Colonel if their have been any sea monster reports at all? Evans says there are always people who claim to have seen sea monsters & flying saucers.Kenneth Tobey played Captain Patrick Hendry in the sf classic The Thing From Another World(1951)in which his character had to deal with an alien who came to Earth in a spaceship.

And......Keith Toby was also in "It Came From Beneath the Sea" a few years later; so it's just a nice line to what was also ahead.
