This was prepared for the FAQ, but by early 2010 that still did not show this type of layout clearly. More to the point, since 2008 the amount of vandalism of FAQ, typically deletes, has increased too much.

does anyone know if 'I Love Louisa' was rerecorded? I cant tell any difference between the 1931 track and the apparant 1953 rerecording, was it actually rerecorded or did they just leave it?

I don't honestly think that a 1931 stage recording would be of high enough quality to simply be dropped into the soundtrack of a 1953 film. Plus the female lead is different.

reply

the 1931 recording was made in a studio, but i see your point on the female lead

It probably wouldn't make a lot of difference, there is a vast difference in recording studio sound in 1931, and film sound in 1953.

have you heard both?

reply

I believe I have, and I think you may have heard the wrong one because the version I have heard sounds nothing like the 1953 recording at all, Astaire is singing in a fake foreign accent in the one I heard (much more than he does in the 1953 recording). Plus the quality is no where near as good.

reply

the version i have is from the original copy done with Leo Reisman if you listen to both one after the other they are very similar, Astaire for one does not sound like the two were made 22 years apart
