I guess he had a different interpretation of the lyrics "If you is really ready, and you are goin' steady" - he was really ready to go steadily across the set!

WOW....watching it right now on TCM ON DEMAND.....and I just saw him!
I thought directors were pretty strict about what was going on around them when they were shooting a scene. Well he's immortalized forever on celluloid...LOL!

I love that fact that it happened during a super-peppy, over-the-top number. It's such a great contrast to see this beige guy mosey on by while Nanette and the chorus are shimmying and belting it out.
