A film that was pretty bold for its time in dealing with the issues it dealt with
This film is a French film that deals with a black man being accused of murder, with a white prostitute the only witness. The man's son tries to bribe her into not testifying against his son, who murders a black man on the train. There's major fallout at the end. Saw this a long time ago, and it's one of the very few films made in the '50s that actually deal up front with the subject of racist injustice. I saw a dubbed version of it. It's on DVD, btw. All I can say is, it was a trip to see this, because a film like this would never have been made in Hollywood at that time.
