Astonishing

I was very surprised to discover that Sammy Ogg starred in this. It's strange to think that he went from something as heavy as this to all of that Disney fluff. Lucky for us! There's no Fatima Channel to show him in re-runs every night, but there is a Disney Channel.

I barely recall seeing this as a child in the early 60's.

Wonder if it is available on VHS and where?

That's what I want to know. I want to buy this film.

reply

Sure, buy it through amazon.com. The links should be up on the imdb page for this film -- if they're not, you can put them there yourself.

I like to watch Sherry Jackson's brilliant (and accurate) performance as the highly emotional Jacinta. The film tends to be overly idealized but the real Jacinta was like that. She took the whole experience very hard -- you can see it in the photographs of her.

Then I flip over to Scifi Channel and there she is again in a skimpy jumpsuit as an android called Andrea on an early Star Trek episode. She also played Teri for a while on "Make Room for Daddy" where I could catch her if I wanted to stay up till four in the morning. She is still acting.

It is available from Netflix.

reply

Yes, interestingly Sammy Ogg is now a Protestant minister as well.

reply

How ironic, as he played a catholic visionary in this one.

reply

In college I was slightly surprised to learn many Protestants believe something from God happened at Fatima.

He played a real BRAT on "I Love Lucy" - tying her up with his brother, gagging her and threatening to burn her up.

Amazing range of acting skills, that kid!

"Don't call me 'mac'... HONEY!"

reply

Yes I remember that episode, when he kicked her in the chins!
