dvd Versions

is there any differance in quality between the out of print image entertainment dvd and the newer warner home video dvd? just curious before i buy it.

The picture quality is about just as good, but the WB release has lots of extra materials, including documentaries, deleted scenes, photo gallery, etc.

I just have seen the MK2-WB version. It has some terrific extras, like a very interesting introduction by a Chaplin biographer. A featurette about the story behind "Limelight" and the prosecution to Chaplin by the infamous "American Legion".

Besides lots of extra goodies. (Chaplin Home Videos, tons of pictures, trailes, posters gallery, a funny short, etc.)

But I've read that the image and sound suffers to some extent because the PAL speedup, making the image a bit blurry sometimes and the music sounds faster than it should be.

Anyway "DVD Beaver" recommends this version over the previous "Image" version.
