2 versions of the dvd

There is 2 versions of the dvd on amazon.ca... One at 15.50$ (the one pictured here) an another one at 4.98$... And the one at 15 bucks doesn't have any special feature. Does anybody know the difference between the two? Is the one at 4.98$ carton? Thanx!

The $15.50 version is released by MGM home video and is a MUCH superior version. There are no extra features, but the quality of the print, and the final video image are good enough to rival any release of a major classic film. The $4.98 version is a very scratchy print that is missing frames and is sloppily transferred to video.

I saw this in 35mm a couple of days ago at Pacific Cinémathèque's annual film noir series. The print certainly looked good but the movie itself felt kind of flat.

It's apparently also public domain and you can download from archive.org - not sure of the quality of what they have. The best bet, the best quality, is most likely the MGM release.

I only paid $3.98 for mine. Great movie for very little and since it was with a large order there were no shipping costs.

I just love film noir, ganster films and westerns.
