Very disappointed

This was one of the few films which I still remember from my childhood in Germany. I couldn't watch the film as it was aired on German TV in the mid 1960's past my bedtime, so I always wanted to see it, but it was never available on a commercial DVD.

Finally in February I found it on eBay and ordered it (in very good quality), but I didn't care for it at all. The film did not age well, is over-acted in many parts.
I found it rather boring.
Rex Harrison plays the usual self-centered guy, Lilli Palmer is charming no matter what she does. The audience must wonder why she ever fell for him?

Instead of watching "The Four Poster", I can highly recommend a much nicer version called "Same Place, Next Year" with Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn.
Like "The Four Poster" it's also a story about a couple through the decades in their lives. But so much nicer done than "The Four Poster".
