From BigPhil: As a kid I lived next door to Arthur Hunnicutt's cousin. He too was named Hunnicutt and also came from the small town of Gravelly, Arkansas. At a tender age I knew who Arthur was and would always watch for him on tv. As you can see from his filmography he was on quite a lot.A few years ago out of curiosity I found his widow and called her out of the blue. She was very gracious and told me a lot of stories from their Hollywood years. She told me that Arthur was always well prepared for his roles and that producers liked to use him because he was a "one take actor". Go Arthur Lee! See you in the movies........
Thanks for sharing. The Big Sky has always been a favorite of mine, due largely to Arthur J. I also remember him from an episode of Perry Mason, where he pretty much played himself (as Amos Keller), an affable spinner of tall tales. He was easy to like, and that, along with his dependability, explains why he always had work. Cancer of the tongue...must have been a pipe smoker.
I just saw in the local paper that Arthur will be inducted into the Arkansas walk of fame on May 20th here in Hot Springs. His widow Pauline, age 93, is scheduled to attend. Think I might wander off downtown and check old Arthur out.......
What I remember best about his roles are "Bull" from El Dorado, and an old Twilight Zone episode. The one where he and his dog drowned and he doesn't know it, but figures it out and nearly gets tricked into entering Hell. A really wonderful actor.

In early May they inducted Arthur Lee into the "Arkansas Walk of Fame" in Hot Springs Arkansas. His wife Pauline attended as did many relatives in the area. During the induction ceremony they showed clips from many of his films and the entire Twilight Zone episode. Great fun was had by all! BigPhil
His role in this deserved a Supporting Actor Oscar if any ever did. And his role in El Dorado, though smaller, was equally indispensable. Another role that deserves mention is his role in the unjustly neglected "The Red Badge of Courage." Great, great actor.
