Happy birthdays, Kirk and Dewey -- 2016!

One year ago today, when I wrote a similar post with birthday greetings for each of The Big Sky's co-stars -- the 92nd for Dewey and the 99th for Kirk (they come only a day apart) -- I hoped against hope that both men would be around exactly one year later, especially because Kirk would reach that rare landmark, his 100th birthday.

As Zeb Callaway would've said: "Well, I'll be dogged!" They have.

So, happy 93rd birthday, Dewey Martin -- born December 8, 1923.

And a particularly happy birthday to star Kirk Douglas, 100 years old today -- born December 9, 1916.

Best wishes to you both in all the years ahead. And thank you for one of the greatest films from director Howard Hawks.
