This title of the story makes me laugh, but the actual story itself is insightful. Curry is a disaster as co-host, and it sounds like her days are numbered.

That was one of the stupidest articles I have ever read online. First off, it was poorly written, and second, Ann Curry has been a fixture with "Today" for 15 years! I flip to "Today" from time to time, but it's not Ann Curry who keeps me away, it's the fluff news they have been doing. Ann Curry to me is great. I like her better than Meredith.
Has Curry's co-hosting hurt the shows rating? The article doesnt really address that, and I believe if ratings are starting to slip then perhaps they should replace her.

Ann Curry has been on the Today show for 15 years, but most of those years were spent as newsreader. Coanchor is a very different role, and by most accounts, she hasn't done well at it. Good Morning America is about to overtake Today for the first time since 1995, and that has only happened since Ann Curry took over from Meredith.
shareI too have left because of the "fluff", when they had an update every morning on the Desperate Housewives "trial" that was enough for me. I've since moved over to CBS morning, I miss Matt and Al but can't enjoy Today show anymore.
I've always liked Ann too but she seems to struggle in the co-hosting duties.

Lauer wants Natalie Morales to be his main female co-host and for a good reason: he's been having an affair with her for the last 2 years. Similarly, Amy Robach is leaving NBC's Today Show Weekend because she was having sex with Lauer too and she wanted him to use his influence to gain for her the female co-host spot on the Weekday Today Show but Lauer didn't deliver on his promise and Robach threw a fit and NBC decided it was time to part ways with her.

Gawker, while typically sarcastic, wasn't off-base. IMHO, Ann getting the boot is the worst kept secret in TV news. NBC was just marking time and all it took to get the pink slip proceedings underway was GMA beating them, in fact, doing it consistently in the past 2 months. I like Ann as a broadcast journalist but as a "Today" show co-host not at all. Unfortunately, her presence on the show (in the lead role) has been polarizing, hence articles like the one in Gawker (FYI: there were many, though, none as mean-spirited). I believe Savannah Guthrie will get the call; they've been grooming her for the past 6 months or so.
