Lester Holt Permanent Nightly News Anchor
Glad to see he'll no longer be on the weekend mornings. That fluff show was such a waste of Lester's talent.

shareI am so happy for him he is so much better then Brian Williams.
Lester took a fluff show like Weekend Today and made it his own, he was by far one of the best host in Today show history.I am glad he will be getting away from those annoying women on Weekend Today.
Weekend Today will never have a great era like they had when Lester was their anchor.
Any word on who will be replacing Lester on weekends? Hope it's not Craig Melvin. Seems to cocky to be part,of a team
shareCraig is considered the favorite, then there is Peter Alexander and Thomas Roberts.
Craig is hyper and his voice grates my nerve. There seems to be a disconnection, it seems like he is screaming at you, can't wake up to a voice like his in the morning. Erica and Craig seem like they are on speed when they are reading the news.
I won't watch the Weekend show no matter who becomes the new co-host, the seem like amateurs in my opinion.
So if indeed they give the job to Craig, I wonder if is he going to be like Lester did, working at MSNBC during the week and doing the weekend Today show..I agree with your description of Craig's demeanor and voice. He used to work on the NBC affiliate in D.C. and watching him everyday was somewhat draining. And yes, Erica truly sounds like she's on speed when reading the news. She's going so fast, half the time I can't even grasp what she's saying!
shareNot much is known about Craig Melvin though, because when Lester got the anchor jobs majority of viewers knew who he was and earned their trust from his work at MSNBC.
Craig Melvin is a National Correspondent on Today show, so he has various pathways. In my opinion now that Lester has been promoted to Nightly News, it is all up in the air on who can become the co-host. I think they will do a trial period between Craig Melvin, Thomas Roberts and Peter Alexander.
