Today show wants to be buzzfeed

I watch the today show everyday at work (limited options) and I am so sick of hearing about celebrities. I hear about them on social media and buzzfeed if I want. I want to hear news. They spent more time on a video of a kitten doing something or other than they did on the girl that walked through the woods for 2 days after her plane crashed.

It's ridiculous. I know they have 4 hours to fill. But most of the stuff they cover in the first part they'll cover again during Kathee Lee and Hoda.

Today show has been going down this path for a while. The show is a shadow of it's former glory when it used to be an informative news program. The show is like a circus, they will do about 30 minutes of actual news and the rest of the programs will be soft entertainment news, concerts and food segments.

Plus the cast is not really that likable compared to their GMA competitors and even CBS This Morning which is starting to rise in the mornings.

Then I think you might enjoy seeing this clip from Wed. Feb. 7, 1979 (premiere date of a short-lived NBC series called Supertrain). They not only talked about the train set that was used on the show (the show didn't last that long, BTW), but also showed a shot of the skyline of Houston, TX (back then, Today always showed a shot from a random place in America every morning).

Maybe I'll try CBS and see if that's better

I've given up on Today when "CBS This Morning" first started in 2012. I love their straight forward news. They have really stayed true to their motto "Reporting Real News." I used to watch "Today" for quite a while it was on the TV when I would eat breakfast before school, and I remember how the cast stayed out on the plaza longer talking to people.

The celebrity b.s and the talk of the damn Royal family has killed it for me. Plus the playing around on set isn't funny. CBS is where to be.
