'll be perfectly honest - I've never even seen an episode of GL - but I wanted to know, once it was common knowledge that the show would be cancelled, did they do anything special for the viewers? ie. bring back old characters, tie up loose ends, show old clips? anything like that.
The reason I'm asking is because I watch ATWT which, I'm sure you've heard has also been canceled and I just want to know what I can expect as the legacy comes to a close. I really hope they'll show old clips from past decades of memorable story lines, but I somehow doubt it.
Be afraid! Be very afraid! The same people that trashed GL at the end are all working at this show now.
Yes they brought back old characters. Did they use them wisely? No! They had a wedding for longtime star-crossed lovers who had been married before. Grown children & parents were brought back that hadn't been on the show in years and they didn't have lines or scenes together. One son of the groom didn't have scenes or lines with his daughter or father! Two major star-crossed couples were not reunited on screen with the writers marrying them. Even though all the actors were on the show when the cancellation was announced and both couples were there until the very end.
They did not show old clips. Executive Producer Ellen Wheeler said there was no time or way to make them fit into the story!
They tied up a lot of loose end for characters on the show a hot minute! For many long time characters there was just unsatisfying closure with people leaving town as abruptly as they came without saying goodbye to family
that they supposedly came back to say goodbye to! The end was a mess and it didn't have to be.
ATWT looks to be headed the same way.Out of the blue Emily & Paul are back together. Casey & Alison are the worst pairing on the show but have boatloads of screen time like James and Daisy did on GL. Now today he proposes? Don't even get me started on SyFy James!!
