they should start slotting it on the Soap opera channel

Instead of those lame Fox shows they show on there (one tree hill? 90210? what the heck? it's not even a soap).

It's disappointing that it ended, definitely but they should either spin off, or start giving rights to the Soap network.

Not that it matters but One Tree Hill was never on Fox. It was on the WB which then became the CW.

P&G don't want the soaps they own (ATWT,GL) on SOAPnet. Y&R even though it's also on CBS is owned by Sony.

Another World was on SOAPnet for a brief time before they ruined the network by rerunning One Tree Hill, The OC, and Beverly Hills 90210 ad nauseum. So you can't blame P&G for that...blame that horrible network.

What really needs to happen is a classic soap network needs to be developed and they need to start rerunning the episodes of all the old shows...from the 1970's on.

What kind of fresh hell is this?

Don't blame the "horrible network". There is a greater audience for reruns of primetime soaps than for daytime soaps. SoapNet reran "Ryan's Hope" and "Another World", and the ratings were awful.

You need to get it through your heads that a relatively small amount of people want to watch reruns of old daytime soap operas.

Ryan's Hope(while a critical darling) never had big ratings. SoapNet showed Another World reruns from a period when the soap had very low ratings. I think that if they started showing GL from say the mid-70's on, there would be much more interest. But that is only my take on it.

Maybe one of the reason why "Ryan's Hope" and "Another World" rating was so bad on Soapnet could be the time they aired it? I remember them showing the show around 1 in the afternoon. Not too many people are home around that time to watch it for 1, also it could be that maybe a lot of people still don't have soap net it was a ditigal cable network.

Also I do agree, "Gilmore Girls","One Tree Hill" are boring, much rather watch classic soaps.

Gilmore Girls and One Tree Hill are not even Soaps. If they are not going to show all soaps, then why call the channel SoapNet. Show classic Soaps, SoapNet!

reply

ryans hope is the only cancelled soap they play on soapnet. and its on at like 4am. but i still record it on my dvr every night to support it. and its an alright show.

Its quiet... I feel a carly coming on... (knock knock) JASON!!! UHHH

reply

I don't know about Gilmore Girls because I've never watched it, but One Tree Hill is definitely a soap!

I know I have the soap opera channel and it is a complete waste for me. They only show reruns of the ABC soaps and Young and the Restless. I don't even know what the other shows are. I think they should do a classic soap channel. I do think there is a audience out there for the older soaps not just the nighttime soaps. Of course my favoirte would be to see Guiding Light from as early as they can get or at least the 1970's or 1980's. Also would love to see Edge of Night, Search for Tomorrow and As The World Turns fro the early 1980's. Also would be fun to see Dark Shadows sicne that is considered a soap too. If I had alot of money I would start a channel like that but I am just a poor daycare worker deeply in debt going to school to change careers. I guess I will have to continue to watch what I can on youtube until they put Guiding Light on some channel.

Only a small cult want to see daytime soaps. Soapnet should rename themselves and show shows a majority of the people want to see. Dancing with the Stars, Bachlor, Supernanny, and Extreme Makeover could be the reruns they show on this channel that has more original reality shows. A creative name could be used for this network, like ABC Reality Channel.

The primetime soaps can be shown on Lifetime I guess. But really, people want to see washed up soap stars do more paper thin scripts and Lifetime has plenty of them to make into cheesy movies.
