TV Land will be airing reruns of Guiding Light in March 2015

TV Land will be airing reruns of Guiding Light in March 2015.

Reruns? Will they start from the beginning 1952? That would be great seeing them from the beginning maybe that will help updating old episodes here on imdb. TVLand could bring back the show. Like BET doing with The Game. I use to watch TVLand tv reruns.

My friend is the one that told me that Guiding Light was going to air on TV Land sometime in 2011, but he overlooked the year. TV Land will be airing March 2003 - September 2009 reruns of Guiding Light in March 2015. My friend read about it on Wikipedia.

Why 2015? The world could end in 2012. Sheesh.

Actually, I can't find anything to confirm this, and it is definitely not listed on Wikipedia as happening, but in my search I found this page which lists that in June 2015, they will be airing reruns of As The World Turns on TV Land. Still nothing credible to verify this, but the page doesn't list any plans for reruns under the Guiding Light article.

The OP simply posted what someone had made up on wikipedia. The person was told numerous times the info was untrue but kept posting it on this board & the ATWT board anyway.

Beware GL info on Wiki. Someone has spent the last two years posting bogus rumors on Wiki about GL being picked up or having it's reruns aired on TVLand and gets people's hopes up.

At first I was excited than again not anymore. I don't believe this is true. Why show reruns when fans want to see an aired episode? Around that time Laura Wright in the year 2003 was still Cassie Layne Winslow. Why bother with showing reruns we already know what happens? Now if you showed episodes from January 1980 through December 1989. That would be more interesting. That would have me excited going back to the 80's or do the very beginning first June 30th, 1952. The same with As the World Turns first episode in April 2, 1956 but I know that will never happen. So they can do the 80's where soaps were popular them days.

What the hell does that have to do with showing re-runs? I agree about the announcing 5 years in advance, though...that's just fishy.

They weren't cancelled for low ratings, they were cancelled because they are too expensive to make. The costs on shooting a soap are really high; instead of paying the salaries for the large casts & production crew, as well as multiple sets etc., it is cheaper for them to replace it with a talkshow. Much fewer pockets to fill, and only one set to deal with. The ratings have declined over the years on soaps, but that still isn't the cause of their demise.
