characters played by more than one actor

I know over the years that some of the characters' actors were replaced by different actors. From all these listed, which was your favorite version of these characters?

*Phillip- Grant Aleksander; John Bolger was very good-looking, but to me Grant will always be Phillip
*Shayne- Garrett Stevens (didn't see much of Shayne as an adult)
*Bill- Bryan Buffington
*Alexandra- Beverlee McKinsey (was used to Marj's portrayal, but after watching youtube, I think I prefer Beverlee's)
*Holly- Maureen Garrett
*Blake- tie-breaker between Liz Keifer and Sherry Stringfield
*Rick- Michael O'Leary
*Alan- Ron Raines
*Lizzie- Hayden Panettiere and Marcy Rylan
*Michelle- Rachel Miner
*Ed- Peter Simon
*Mindy- Kimberly Simms and Barbara Crampton, then Krista Tesreau (didn't see Ann Hamilton's)
*Dinah- Wendy Moniz
*Beth- Judi Evans (again, was used to Beth Chamberlain's, but youtube made me prefer Evans)
*Vanessa- Maeve Kinkead
*Marah- Kimberly J. Brown
*Annie- Cynthia Watros
*Amanda- Toby Poser
*Alan-Michael- Rick Hearst
*Cassie- Laura Wright
*Hart- Frank Grillo
*Eleni- Melina Kanakaredes
*Maureen- Ellen Parker

Feel free to add any that I may have left out. :)

*Philip-I know I am in the minority on this one, but I preferred John Bolger to Grant Alexander. Grant looked too much like a cousin of mine, who I despised immensely, with good reason(s). lol

*Shayne- Don't recall any of the actors who played 'Shayne' as a child. I really liked Jeff Branson, who played the adult, and last 'Shayne' (adult)

*Bill-Ditto the above for 'Bill'. Liked Daniel Cosgrove who played the adult & last, 'Bill'

*Alexandra- The irreplaceable, Beverlee McKinsey. (see also the character she originated on Another World-'Iris') I like Marj Dusay, but was always hoping BM would resume the role one day.

*Holly-Maureen Garrett
*Blake-Really loved Sherry Stringfield, but was quickly won over by Liz Kiefer.
*Rick-Michael O'Leary
*Alan- Loved Ron Raines but was equally fond of the late Chris Berneau in the role.
*Lizzy-Marcy Rylan (adult) Hayden Panetierre (child)
*Michelle-Bethany Joie Lenz (adult) Rachel Miner (child)
*Ed-Peter Simon
*Mindy-tie between Krista Tesreau & Kimberly Simms. Didn't like Barbara Crampton in the role.
*Dinah-tie between Wendy Moniz & Gina Tognoni
*Beth-Judi Evans. Never warmed up to Beth Chamberlain. Thought BC had more palpable chemistry with GA's 'Philip, though.
*Vanessa-Maeve Kinkaid
*Marah-Kimberly J Brown. I did like the little girl who played Marah as a child (her name now escapes me) around the time Josh & Reva finally married.
*Annie-Cynthia Watros (she owned the role)
*Amanda-Toby Poser
*Alan-Michael-Rick Hearst, but Carl T. Evans was pretty good too. I enjoyed his chemistry with Beth Ehler's, 'Harley'
*Cassie-Laura Wright
*Hart-Loved Frank Grillo, but Leonard Stabb was my absolute favorite.
*Eleni- Melina Kankaredes
*Maureen-Ellen Parker. Really stupid move killing her character off.

I'll add:
*Mallet-Mark Derwin. His chemistry with Beth Ether's, 'Harley' was...........wow! Robert Bogue was likable, but was never 'Mallet' to me.

Yeah, I like the first Mallet better. You know, after a year of originating this post, my opinions have sort of changed after watching many more YT videos. John Bolger's Phillip won me over. He had great chemistry with Judi Evans (better than Grant did). I like how he comforted Beth after Lujack died. GT was good as Dinah, too. I really like Sherry Stringfield's performance as Blake now. She had such hot chemistry with Jerry Ver Dorn.

I always liked Elizabeth Dennehy, who originated the role, as Blake.

I have a lot of problems with Ron Raines portrayal of Alan Spaulding. I always found him way too blustery, to noveau riche, to be believable. I thought the on-going feud with Buzz Cooper was ridiculous. In the real world Spaulding would have totally crushed the working class Cooper with his connections and wealth.

That's part of the inherent problems with soap operas. The wealthy upper class characters rarely ring true. They're played like middle class people with money. The same with the lower class characters. They're played like middle class people who are poor. They almost never truly capture lower and upper class people in a believable manner.

Chris Bernau was much better as Spaulding. Aristocratic, reserved and calculating, he totally owned the character.

I thought it was a shame that the didn't bring Judi Evans back for the finale, since they brought back Krista Tesreau for the "Four Musketeers". I understand the loyalty to Beth Chamberlain, but since they had brought Evans to play a part on sister show ATWT, I thought they could have swapped actresses.
