"A Kingdom for a Horse"

In this episode Dom Pedro el Segundo, Emperor of Brazil, is visiting the USA and gets off his train in California and is left behind when the train leaves without him. He meets a family consisting of Fern Mitchell and her children Tommy and Becky.

The Old Ranger says this happened in April 1876.

I know that Pedro II did visit the USA in 1876. In May, President Grant and Emperor Pedro opened the Centennial exhibition in Philadelphia, and Alexander Graham Bell, who the Emperor had met in Boston, demonstrated his new invention for him.

But on the other hand Pedro the Second didn't look like Gilbert Roland, being red-haired and having a bushy beard. And many episodes change the story for various reasons - see the thread "Thought these were accurate Stories?"

So I wonder how much else in the episode is accurate.
