ROBERT TAYLOR AS TEXAS JOHN SLAUGHTER ?

I READ IN AN OLD TV GUIDE THAT IN ONE DEATH VALLEY DAYS EPISODE ROBERT
TAYLOR PLAYED TEXAS JOHN SLAUGHTER. THIS EPISODE ALSO STARRED BUCK TAYLOR
(SON OF DUB TAYLOR,NEWLEY ON GUNSMOKE). HOWEVER,I HAVE CHECKED AND CHECKED THE
INTERNET,AND CAN FIND NO SUCH RECORD OF SAID EPISODE.Can ANYBODY tell me:AM I
GOING NUTS,OR WAS THERE REALLY SUCH AN EPISODE MADE ?

I remember Texas John Slaughter (Tom Tyron) as part of of Disney triad. Swamp Fox (Leslie Nielson) and El Fago Bacca (Robert Loggia) were the others and they alternated in 3 week cycles.

I saw that episode too. It was made during the period (1966-1969) when Taylor was hosting the show. Quite possibly no one has yet filled in the cast information on the episode in IMDb.

I've compiled a (incomplete) episode guide to DEATH VALLEY DAYS and the episode in which Robert Taylor played Texas John Slaughter was "A Shortcut Through Tombstone" (c) Nov. 22'68. The others in the cast were Buck Taylor (Billy Stiles), Ned Romero (Geronimo Kid), Brioni Farrell (Jenny), Paul Sorensen (Davy Sikes), Barry Sadler (Clay Wortman). Hope this helps.

Yes, this episode was broadcast last week on Encore Westerns, which has been running selected episodes of this wonderful series, newly restored, since the beginning of the year.

reply

The episode is called "A Shortcut Through Tombstone" and just now aired on Encore.
