Anthony...Antony...
What's up with that?
shareI am a big Hitchcock fan and I've seen this film many times and I tell ya:
Its always bugged me, too. Its spelled "Anthony" in all articles on the film, but they seem to keep calling him Antony.
Beats me why, but at least I'm happy to be joined in my confusion.
Similarly, in Psycho, there is a character named only Arbogast. He's a private eye. Everybody else in the movie calls him "Arbo-GASSST." But on the two times he introduces himself, the actor playing him(Martin Balsam) calls himself "Arbo-GOST."
Beats me why.
Thanks for responding....I had finally reconciled that the "h" in "th" is sometimes silent, as in Thomas or Thompson (or, if anybody remembers, Thom McCann Shoes...lol). So maybe it's a British thing with Hitchcock, that both were correct and it wasn't a priority to be consistent in this film.
Maybe it's just like how Americans inexplicably pronounce the name Craig as 'kreg'.
