The face punch camera angle

One thing I love about Hitchcock films is that the camera often shows a character's own perspective, especially when that character is being punched in the face. It's the kind of thing that jolts you upon the first viewing. I know this angle was used again in North by Northwest when Gary Grant is knocked out by a park ranger. Did Hitch use it in any other films?

Okay, well... filibuster.

Can't remember but he does consider the perspective of the main characters important. Usually a close-up is followed by exactly the view the character is seeing.

That camera technique is called POV (for Point Of View). One effective use of it is in Hitchcock's "Psycho," where Lila Crane (actress Vera Miles) is walking toward Norman Bates' house and the camera keeps cutting between her face and the house. The camera jiggles, suggesting that that's what Lila is seeing as she walks.

"The camera jiggles, suggesting that the Steadicam wasn't to be invented for a good 15 years."

Just joking :p
