Best Hitchcock movie ever

yes i said it! This movie is better than psycho, vertigo, rear window, and the birds.
I haven't seen dial m for murder yet so I can't compare the two. I'm sure I'll still think " strangers on a train" is the best.
Robert walker is a very talented actor, it is unfortunate that he died so young. Bruno's the most adorable character ever!

reply

Totally because of Walker's magnificent performance this film went from being a very good film to Hitchcock's best. Walker's role was completely ignored by the media in terms of accolades and also, of course, by the academy.

reply

Thank you sir!
I can't believe how ignorant the academy is. I mean besides classic actors, there are actors today who should've gotten an Oscar, and others who deserve more.
For example:

Al Pacino for the godfather 1&2, serpico, dog day afternoon, scarface, carlito's way, Donnie brasco, and heat.

Johnny depp for Donnie brasco, blow, public enemies, and Edward scissorhands

Leonardo Dicaprio for titanic, what's eating Gilbert grape, the departed, shutter island, the great gatsby, and the wolf of wall street

These are 3 of my favorite actors so I am definitely biased but still they should've at least won one Oscar for one of those movies.

I think it is Hitchcock's best too. Bruno is such a likeable villain. I wanted him to get away with it.

'Dial M For Murder' is good. But be prepared for it to be set in one apartment for most of the time. Something that Hitchcock like to do in some of his films. Ray Milland plays another likeable villain in 'Dial M.'

reply

Thank you, I think I'm interested in watching " dial m for murder" and I don't mind that it's filmed in one place since I already watched " rear window" and loved it. Hitchcock is a pretty interesting director! I just don't get why this film is often neglected and underrated by a lot of people.

reply

It's up there, for sure, absolutely one of his finest! It's on TCM quite a bit, I watch at least a little of it every time, and I see it's coming on, I don't plan on watching it again, and it sucks me in every time. I don't know if that is what makes it a great film or not, but it is eminently re-watchable. Walker is just sublime.

Strangers on a Train is actually my 2nd favourite Hitchcock film behind Vertigo. I'm still convinced that's his masterpiece in my mind, but Strangers is so good!

reply

Not even close.

Why ain't there no love for North by Northwest?

reply

Trying to say which Hitchcock film is the best one is a very difficult task. There are so many great ones. Strangers on a Train is certainly one of those great ones. But there are so many others. I don't know of any director who made as many great movies as Hitchcock. He's the best there will ever be in my book.

North by Northwest, Vertigo, Psycho, Rebecca, Spellbound, The Birds, Lifeboat, Rear Window, Notorious, Dial M for Murder, Saboteur, Shadow of a Doubt, Foreign Correspondent, The 39 Steps, To Catch a Thief, Suspicion, Rope ... the list goes on and on.

reply

If pushed, I'd say S.O.A.T Dial M and Rear Window were the master's top 3. Loved a lot of the others though.
