In the final scene, Joe is lying dead and Diane is seen walking off by herself down the dry river bed. This seems to indicate that she is now alone, but also that she is getting off scot free as the cops let her go.

But, she was definitely an accomplice when she got the money and brought it to Joe. Diane should have done hard time for that. But, at the end, Diane seems to be off the hook with the law, except that she is now completely alone.

I did think that Diane's character change from a money grabbing broad to the girl next door, only concerned about her guy, really detracted from the character and limited Joan Dixon's ability to keep the character interesting for the entire movie.

Roadblock really is an excellent film, and it kept me interested all the way.

I just watched the movie tonight. I enjoyed it but while watching it I was very confused; not sure what to think.

Was there going to be a twist? Had she targeted him from the beginning, at the airport? Was he doing all this to get Webb for the fur robbery and off the streets for good? No, wait, they are insurance detectives.

It was only after he killed Webb that I realized it was for real; he'd gone corrupt. With her, I knew after she grabbed the money and joined him that she really had changed. I had expected her to grab the cash and flee, leaving him on his own realizing he'd been had.

In the end I realized the movie is about how a chance encounter can lead to love and love can cause a complete, immediate, and thorough change in a person. It did seem far fetched that he would do a complete one-eighty. I wasn't buying it but then I had expected that she'd go straight, just as he did. This was a good movie.

It was unusual that she got away "scot-free" but I recall Joe telling someone that she had nothing to do with it.
